My 13 year old son and I did the SSI Level I Freediving course with Freedive Nusa, and the team... read moreMy 13 year old son and I did the SSI Level I Freediving course with Freedive Nusa, and the team was as professional as I’ve seen. Our instructor, Heiko, and Arthur (who joined to help in some of the ocean sessions) knew their stuff and upheld the highest of standards throughout. I felt extremely comfortable leaving my son in their hands. Heiko taught us the ins and outs of freediving and balanced it with a lot of practical sessions in the ocean (that was right across the street).
Nusa Penida’s tourism has only recently picked up and consequently it has that perfect balance of just the right amount of infrastructure (restaurants, hotels/homestays, scooter rentals, etc) without all the unfortunate destruction that tourism often brings. We saw some of the most beautiful, untouched coral reefs that I’ve seen around the world.
I highly recommend anyone that’s comfortable in the water to take a couple of days to take “the next step in”, or at least join them on a day trip. Good, good stuff! read less

So, I wanted a professional and safe freediving school for my Level 1 course, but also with a cool and chilled vibe, and that is exactly what I got!

Emily was my instructor, and I really recommend her. She is extremely knowledgeable, resourceful, and enthusiastic. She guided me throughout all areas in a calm and reassuring way. I went from holding my breath from 1min to then 3min40 in the same afternoon, after her clear and reassuring explanations and demonstrations. In the water, even though I had issues equalising and getting deeper, so she tailored the sessions to suit my needs and to get the best outcome of each session and ultimately the course.

I am extremely happy to have done this course in this school, and with Emily's help. This very different experience has already helped me on my scuba diving air consumption, which has dramatically decreased!:)

Can only recommend this school to you if you are looking for a professional, safe but also chilled freediving experience! read less

It is like going home that is so familiar. For many years it was my dream to learn how to freedive. Yeah, I knew how to go underwater, but I didn't know how to do this right actually. So the 2 hour lesson at Nusa Dua Freedive School that I had with Heiko was really useful for me. It gave me introduction into the world of freedivers. During the whole lesson it was easy and very interesting to obtain information. Illustrative examples of my teacher made it easier to learn and to understand what to do in this or that cases.
I want to express my gratitude to my instructor Heiko Franken. Thanks to you now I know what I have to do to dive very deep. How to inhale and exhale. And what I don't have to do. Thank you for your support. And thank you for letting me dive for 14 meters. It was very pleasant and important for me to hear that I'm so natural in water. We did a bit of dry practicing and then open-water dive after which I got my answers. I was guided by Kirill who is knowledgeable and quickly understands the reasons of the issue. On returning back we did some analysis and I got recommendations and exercises. That was a really professional approach so I recommend anybody to do training with these guys.
