WHY LEARN WITH US
What makes Freedive Nusa different
Experienced team
We’ve been teaching freediving on Nusa Penida since 2017 and trained over 6,000 certified freedivers. Group size is capped at 4 — every dive gets feedback.
Year-round training conditions
20–30 m visibility, water at 27–29 °C, walls accessible to any training depth. Fun diving from the shore, the training site is reached by a short boat ride.
3-day basic course
Most schools cover Level 1 in two days. We add a third — extra ocean training, time for equalization troubleshooting, and reef dives. Medical insurance included.
From the course to the expedition
Students rarely stop at the certificate. We run freediving trips to Raja Ampat, Komodo, Alor, Misool, Maratua and beyond.
Full training facilities
Pools for static and dynamic apnea, classrooms, two dive boats, yoga studio, gym, sauna, ice bath — all on a single property 20 meters from the shore.
A school people return to
Many students return for advanced courses, coaching, or expeditions. Some stay with us for months as master students or instructor candidates.

He was the perfect mix of clear instructions and explanations, patience as we got used to this new challenging environment, and also gently pushing us each time we went under the water - super observant and useful tips each time.

Our instructor, Heiko, and Arthur (who joined to help in some of the ocean sessions) knew their stuff and upheld the highest of standards throughout. I felt extremely comfortable leaving my son in their hands. Heiko taught us the ins and outs of freediving and balanced it with a lot of practical sessions in the ocean (that was right across the street).
Nusa Penida’s tourism has only recently picked up and consequently it has that perfect balance of just the right amount of infrastructure (restaurants, hotels/homestays, scooter rentals, etc) without all the unfortunate destruction that tourism often brings. We saw some of the most beautiful, untouched coral reefs that I’ve seen around the world.
I highly recommend anyone that’s comfortable in the water to take a couple of days to take “the next step in”, or at least join them on a day trip. Good, good stuff! read lessAlex S

What an incredible experience! My recent Manta Trip with Freedive Nusa was nothing short of amazing. The trip itself was a dream come true. We were fortunate enough to see over 20 mantas, and it was truly a mesmerizing sight. Our guide, Ray, was exceptional - knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about what he does. The equipment provided was top-notch, and the freedive center itself was stunning. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. It's definitely deserving of 5 stars! Thank you to the entire team for making this trip unforgettable. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for an unforgettable adventure! read less

Freedive Nusa is a freediving school in Bali located on Nusa Penida Island. This is a beautiful tropical island, located 12 kilometers southeast of Bali. Getting to Nusa Penida is very easy - it is only 40 minutes away by speed boat from South Bali.
Diving and snorkeling in Bali is an experience that every underwater lover who visits the island should try. The most beautiful and popular dive sites of Bali are located around Nusa Penida. Therefore diving in Nusa Penida is a must-do activity for every ocean explorer.
For freediving training, Bali offers unlimited training depth with visibility 20-30 meters, water temperature of 28-29 degrees, drift diving in the currents, an amazing underwater world, and the possibility to dive with manta rays all year round. This is one of the best places in Asia where you can learn to freedive and our freedive instructors in Bali will make your experience methodical, safe, and rewarding.

Freediving is a relatively safe sport when practised under proper supervision and following safety protocols. The body has natural adaptations for breath-holding — a certified course teaches you to use them correctly.
Accidents happen because of lack of proper training and education. Always check your instructor's certification. Ask questions about their actual teaching experience so that you know you are in safe hands.
We have a team of instructors and start courses nearly every day. Just send us a message and choose the dates most convenient for you.
